How did the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra get a #1 hit single on iTunes? With the government conducting the first orchestral sector funding review in decades, they needed a way to rally public support and to prove that they were still relevant. So we made an online video set to their performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, showing that music enriches life. The video directed people to buy the track – along with remixes by local artists – to show their support for the orchestra. It was the APO’s first ever #1 single.
